Traditional Indian Textiles Patola

Patola saris are double ikat woven sari, usually made from silk, made in Patan(Gujarat, India). These Patola silks are very expensive, the luxurious silk showcases geometric and folk-inspired motifs like flora, fauna, and human figurines that adds depth and richness to these textiles and infusing it with a piece of soul rooted in Indian ethos.

One of the most distinctive features in Patola sarees or fabric is that they are the same on both sides and can be worn on both sides. The colors of the yarns remain intact for a long time and do not fade due to time.

The laborious technique in double ikkat dyeing is that the yarns are died first and later woven to required patterns. In today’s fashion Patola are a massive hit and trend and many designers have experimented with redefining these fabrics in a contemporary way.
